Honesty or stupidity?

Okay, so I couldn't resist.

I got my invoice from the personal trainer and he undercharged me by R222 (just under $30).

What would you do?

Tell him or just pay the lower invoice?

Well, I wasn't sure initially but my instinct felt it was off so I just spent 10 minutes doing a little spreadsheet and sure enough - R222 off.

Can you guess what I'm going to do?

  1. I don't think I've ever had an issue like that with a one-on-one situation. I do check my restaurant bills very carefully, though, and I usually pick up if something was left off the bill. (It's often a drink or an extra side dish, something along those lines.)

I usually tell the waiter, "You didn't charge me for the milk." Sometimes they'll adjust the bill, sometimes they'll say not to worry about it. They are usually very kind that I've pointed out the error.

The exception would be if the service was really bad (or something)...if I felt like I'd been "over-charged" in total, based on my entire dining experience. In that case I probably wouldn't be going back to that restaurant, and I would pay the bill as written.

    Long answer, huh? ;)

  2. Obviously pay it? That's what I would do.

  3. Tell him! And I know, you will too.

  4. I'd pay the correct amount, and I'm guessing you will too.

  5. Pay up...what goes around comes around and so on. Or phone and tell him about the undercharge, maybe there's a valid reason or something? I don't even have to guess what you're planning to do Marcia. You have honest stamped all over you (which is a good thing of course).

I once received a fridge/freezer that was roughly double the size of the one I ordered. A lot more than R222 in value. The depot was only too happy to come and fix their mistake when I called them - someone could lose their job over a mistake like that.

  6. I think you're going to tell him

  7. Ja I would also tell him!!!

This is the personal trainer who doesn't listen to you and pushes you too hard (and othet people joined you for the session when that wasn't your plan)? Or maybe I've remembered incorrectly. Regardless I can tell you're going to let him know.

  9. I knew you would tell him even before I read the whole post....couldn't believe it that he still got it wrong after that;-)
